What / Why :
Food Industry Network Co., Ltd., in collaboration with the Ministry of Commerce, Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and National Food Institute (NFI), and the Federation of Thai Industries, hosted a press conference to launch “Health food & Ingredient Thailand 2011 and Thailand Food Conference 2011” for the first time ever in Thailand between March 10 and 13, 2011, at Impact Muang Thong Thani to position Thai food industry as the hub of creative and healthy food manufacturers and ASEAN’s leading trader of food ingredients.
H.E. Mr. Alongkorn Ponlaboot, Deputy Minister of Commerce, recently (on July 8, 2010) presided over the project launching ceremony and was warmly welcomed by Ms. Napawan Songprasertkul, Managing Director of Food Industry Network Co., Ltd., among several attending press members and VIP guests in the industry at the Ballroom of Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok.
To further equip the guests with knowledge, addressing “Business Opportunity in New-Aged Food Industry and How to Make it Thrive” seminar were Dr. Pisuth Lertvilai, Director of D.S.M. (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Mr. Visit Limprana, Chairman of Food Processing Industry Club, the Federation of Thai Industries, Mr. Suthipong Suriya, food stylist of Karb Studio and Managing Director of Karb Style Co., Ltd., and Pol. Capt. Dr. Nitipoom Navaratna, Director of the Institute of Asian and African Studies, Assumption University.
On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Alongkorn gave a special lecture, stating, “It is a good opportunity for Thailand to have trade fair and academic conference since not only can manufacturers meet their consumers, but also Thailand can express its great potential to be the center of healthy and creative food as well as value-added food products. Since the event was organized under this theme, “creative economy” policy is obviously considered crucial and valuable for the nation and its role for country development is becoming increasingly significant in the future.”
“Thailand was ranked as the world’s 13th largest exporter with its major markets in Japan, U.S.A., U.K. and China thanks to its current advantage of high quality raw materials and Thai identity, namely taste and exquisite food presentation. These are the charm that should be jointly endorsed by government and private sectors so that Thai people can use their own “Thainess” to create potential and unique products in order to serve the market demand. “Intellectual property” is also a crucial matter they should learn to protect the country’s commerce. From these factors, I strongly believe that Thailand is able to become the world’s leader of creative products and Thai people will effortlessly stabilize and strengthen Thai economy.”
The organizing team was led by Ms. Napawan Songprasertkul, Managing Director of Food Industry Network Co., Ltd., with over 20 years of expertise in food industry. Being in the private sector that initiated this happening, she revealed the details, “Owing to the potential of Thai people and the country’s abundance, I am fully confident that this event will bring positive outcome to Thailand and its citizen. The team has been well prepared to elevate the position of Thai industry to the world’s leader by hosting this event that showcased both creative and healthy food and ASEAN’s leading ingredients for the first time in Thailand and ASEAN.
